Marvel Cinematic Universe sure knows how to keep its fans glued to the franchise. After Ryan Reynolds teased fans about Deadpool entering the MCU, now we have Venom director confirming the news that Venom and Spider-Man will cross paths. The Spider-Man villain was introduced in the Spider-verse franchise last year in a standalone film. However, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man did not make an appearance in Venom as he was disintegrated by Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War.
However, now that Venom 2 is in works, fans have been curious whether our friendly neighbourghood Spider-Man will appear alongside Venom. Now, much to the fans’ delight, Venom director Ruben Fleischer has confirmed that Sony is planning a confrontation between Peter Parker and Eddie Brock. He told a website, “That’s where it’s all going to lead. (In) the comics, he evolved from Spider-Man but because of the Marvel-Sony thing we weren’t able to that. And so the thing I think it’s building towards, and will be exciting to see, is when they actually do confront each other.”
Tom Hardy also shared an Instagram post where he was sporting the Iron-Spider-Man suit. However, he quickly deleted the post but it sent the fans into a tizzy as they started reading it as an indication that the two comic characters will come together.

Although Fleischer has confirmed about the crossover but the director is not directing Venom 2. Venom 2 will be directed by actor-director Andy Serkis who has starred in films like Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. He also gave the voice of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Venom 2 is slated to release on October 2, 2020.
