Watch: ‘It was essential to rediscover Daniel Craig’s James Bond after five years of his retirement,’ says ‘No Time To Die’ director Cary Joji Fukunaga

Daniel Craig’s last outing as James Bond in his upcoming film No Time To Die is going to be an epic fest, promises the latest BTS video from the film. There are cars blowing up, gravity-defying stunts, daredevil plunges and an intriguing and megalomaniac villain all ready to challenge our favourite agent 007. The trailer and photos have left Bond fans begging for more and now director Cary Joji Fukunaga is making the wait unbearable and the excitement palpable by sharing new behind-the-scenes videos.

Looking at the video, we can definitely say that Cary has left no stone unturned in making No Time To Die an extremely memorable affair. In the video, he is heard teasing and talking about Daniel’s last outing as Bond and confirms a time jump from the last film Spectre and says, “The white dots on the screen, the adrenaline starts pumping, and then Bond turns to the barrel and fires. When that comes on screen, it’s like ‘settle-in and get ready for a ride’. For me, as a writer and director, it was essential to rediscover Bond. Where is he? After five years of retirement, who has he become?" Talking about Bond he further says, “He's sort of a wounded animal, struggling with his role as a double-O. The world has changed. The rules of engagement aren't what they used to be. The rules of espionage are darker in this era of asymmetric warfare. The people close to Bond – those who he considers to be family – are at great risk.”

He also talks about Rami Malek’s spine-chilling deadly villain and says, “There's someone new out there... More dangerous than anyone he's ever encountered. Whoever they are, they're smarter and stronger than expected. The moment he’s called to action till the end of the film is a race, not only to save the world but their lives." Cary finally ends the video by assuring that the makers have grand plans about No Time To Die and said, “No Time to Die is a combination of all that Bond has become. It’s all that he has seen, all the trauma, the loss. The mission will be his most challenging and difficult. Our target was to do something extraordinary. Every Bond film has that thing – the danger but also the emotional punch. Everything that was left unsaid will finally be said. This will be the final chapter for Daniel Craig.”

No Time To Die also stars Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Ralph Fiennes, Léa Seydoux and others. It is slated to release on April 8, 2020. Clocking a run time of 163 minutes, No Time to Die is reportedly the longest Bond film to be ever made.
