The release of the ninth instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise has been rescheduled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The much-anticipated film was set to release on May 22, but officials at Paramount took to Facebook on Thursday, March 12 to announce the film's release would be delayed by 11 months, reports a portal. "We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga. That's why it's especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It's become clear that it won't be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May," the statement reads. The statement added, "While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration."
The production, which stars Vin Diesel, is the latest release to be halted as the virus becomes an official global pandemic.
Meanwhile, actor-filmmaker John Krasinski has delayed the release of A Quiet Place: Part II due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The actor took to Twitter on Thursday to break the news to fans, noting it is not the right time for the horror production to debut. He wrote, "One of the things I'm most proud of is that people have said our movie is one you have to see all together Well, due to the every-changing circumstances of what's going on in the world around us, now is clearly not the right time to do that. As insanely excited as we are for all of you to see this movie... I'm gonna wait to release the film til we CAN all see it together! So here's to our group movie date! See you soon!" The release of the sequel to the 2018 hit, directed by Krasinski and starring his wife Emily Blunt, was delayed in Europe earlier this week.

Not just that, Disney has postponed the theatrical release of Mulan amid growing concerns over coronavirus. The live-action remake, starring Liu Yifei and directed by Niki Caro, was slated to release in North American theatres on March 27. There's no official word on the postponement of the film in India. As of now, it is scheduled to release on March 27. The studio has also removed The New Mutants and Antlers from its slate. All three movies have been delayed indefinitely as Disney looks for new release dates.
