Back in 2019, when Will Smith's look as Genie from the live-action adaptation of the classic Aladdin was unveiled, fans were skeptical whether the actor will do justice to the iconic character formerly played by Robin Williams. However, proving all doubts wrong, Will managed to win the hearts of the audience as well as the critics. The overall response towards the film as well as Will's character was incredible and led Disney to consider a spin-off series based on Genie.
According to reports of an international publication, Disney is reportedly planning to develop a spin-off miniseries on Aladdin's Genie. The makers of the film that proved to be a box-office success are in talks to commission a miniseries that will revolve around Genie's past and his activities that took place in between Aladdin 1 and 2. Although official confirmation is awaited, but reports suggest that Will might be roped in to play the character once again. The Genie spin-off will arrive on Disney+ and the makers are yet to issue release date.

According to earlier reports, it was being said that apart from the miniseries, Disney is planning to take the franchise forward with a sequel. The project is reportedly in its scripting stage and will most likely borrow elements from The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves. Guy Ritchie, the director of the first film, might be roped in to helm the latest project.
