The key characters of the Targaryen civil war are King Viserys I, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Queen Alicent Hightower and Aegon II Targaryen. It is still uncertain whether they will be a part of House Of The Dragon or not.
Fans assume the Targaryen civil war, also known as the Dance of the Dragons will feature the two primary female characters that are Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower. The war began over a royal-succession dispute between Rhaenyra and Alicent. King Viserys I Targaryen had no son from his first wife and hence named his eldest daughter Rhaenyra his heir to the Iron Throne. On the contrary, his second wife, Alicent handed the throne to her eldest son Aegon II Targaryen after King Viserys died. Post Aegon II Targaryen coronation, Rhaenyra summoned those who supported her claim to the throne and swore revenge on Aegon and Alicent.
House Of The Dragon will likely premiere in 2022.
