Tom Cruise convinced Universal Pictures to pay $200 million for his space film with Elon Musk over a zoom call!

Trust Tom Cruise to do the unthinkable. After announcing that his next film will be shot in space that got everyone talking, now the latest reports have come in that he convinced Universal Pictures to shell out $200 million (nearly Rs 1500 crore) for the it that does not even have a script in place yet.

As per an online portal, Universal signed off on the whopping project over a Zoom call with Cruise, writer-director Doug Liman, his frequent collaborator Christopher McQuarrie, and producer PJ van Sandwijk. Elon Musk is also going to be a part of the project through his SpaceX firm.

McQuarrie told the portal, “I will have a ground control role as story advisor and producer.” Liman is currently writing the script of the yet-untitled action-adventure film. The staggering production cost is just an estimate considering the project is still being written, but it costs way more than making space-set blockbusters that do not break through the atmosphere.

The film will be developed with the help of NASA as well.
