Robert Downey Jr and other Marvel co-stars stand by Chris Pratt after netizens label him ‘worst Chris’ for allegedly supporting Trump

The stars that play the roles of Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes are generally regarded in high esteem by the audience. However, in an extremely unfortunate turn of events Chris Pratt who essays the role of Peter Quill aka Star Lord has been facing a significant amount of backlash for his alleged political affiliation. Netizens have descended ferociously on Chris for as they have not only called him an alleged Donald Trump supporter but have also labelled him as ‘the worst Chris’ among the famous Chris quartet-the other being Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine.

It all came down as Chris did not sign himself up to attend an upcoming Joe Biden rally, where most of his fellow Avengers are scheduled to be present. However, Robert Downey Jr who plays the role of Iron Man stood up for Chris and shared words of support for him on his Instagram. Zoe Saldana, Mark Ruffalo, James Gunn also stood up for Chris against social media trolls.

Downey Jr. shared a picture of the two and wrote, “What a world... The “sinless” are casting stones at my #brother, Chris Pratt... A real #Christian who lives by #principle, has never demonstrated anything but #positivity and #gratitude... AND he just married into a family that makes space for civil discourse and (just plain fact) INSISTS on service as the highest value. If you take issue with Chris,,, I’ve got a novel idea. Delete your social media accounts, sit with your OWN defects of #character, work on THEM, then celebrate your humanness... @prattprattpratt I #gotyerbackbackback.”

James Gunn clarified Chris’ stand on LGBTQ and said, “Chris himself has openly stated the church he attends doesn’t reflect all of his personal views, and that he is a ‘man who believes that everyone is entitled to love who they want.’” Mark said that Chris is ‘just not overtly political as a rule’. Check out their tweets below:

Chris is often known not to be inclined towards politics and his decision to skip a rally where his fellow co-stars are present just goes to show the man’s neutral opinion and could be taken as his personal opinion. The rally was attended by Don Cheadle, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana- all of them supporting Vice-Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris for a virtual fundraiser called ‘Voters Assemble’.

However, Twitterati had no chill and asked MCU to cancel Chris and also made allegations of him being homophobic and anti-LGBTQ. Check out some of their tweets below:

On the other hand, another section of the online community extended their support to Chris as they believed he was being targeted for no apparent reason, considering the fact that there is no solid proof that he indeed is a Trump supporter.

However, the point is that this Cancel Culture might end up doing more harm than good in the long run and it remains to be seen whether Chris can emerge from this barrage unscathed.
