Kristen Stewart bears an uncanny resemblance to Princess Diana in her first look for ‘Spencer’

Kristen Stewart has morphed herself into Princess Diana for the new upcoming film Spencer and the resemblance is uncanny. Principal photography has started on Pablo Larrain’s film with the makers unveiling the first glimpse of the people’s princess.

In the first look of Kristen as Princess Di, the actress sports a red coat over a black turtleneck, and wears a black hat with a veil atop her signature blonde hair-do. The film is written by Steven Knight and focuses on one weekend in the life of Princess Diana, as she spends the Christmas holiday with the Royal Family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. The day is noteworthy as it depicts the day she decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles.

Talking about the film, Kristen said, “Spencer is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life. It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name: Spencer. It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her.”

Spencer also stars Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins and Sean Harris. The film will start shoot in Germany and the UK and is expected to release in fall 2021. 2022 will mark the 25th death anniversary of Princess of Wales. The film is produced by Juan Dios Larrain for Fabula Films, Jonas Dornbach and Janine Jackowski for Komplizen Film and BAFTA winner and Oscar nominee Paul Webster for Shoebox Films.
