Super Bowl 2021: Vin Diesel gears up for F9; Timothee Chalamet wins the internet as Edgar Scissorhands- all the trailers released during the event

Super Bowl 2021 might have disappointed some football fans with its one-sided scoreline and countless penalties but it left film TV fans wanting more with some exciting and exhilarating trailers. Several films’ and series’ trailers like Clarice, Old, Raya and the Last Dragon, Nobody, Yellowstone, F9 were released but Timothée Chalamet’s Cadillac’s ad stole the show. Here’s a roundup of what’s making news from the Super Bowl.

Timothée Chalamet plays Edward Scissorhands' son, Edgar Scissorhands, in Cadillac's Super Bowl Ad

Timothée Chalamet was joined by Winona Ryder in a highly interesting advertisement for the self-driving Cadillac. The ad featured Timothée as Edward Scissorhands’ son Edgar Scissorhands. Winona Ryder reprises her role from Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands as Edward's love interest, Kim Boggs, who is now the mother of Edgar. Much like his father, Edgar struggles with everyday life as he has scissors for hands. He accidently pierces a football and becomes a magnet during science class and shreds the bell on the bus. Banned from taking public transport, Edgar’s mom has the perfect solution for her son- she buys him the self-driving Cadillac, much to his happiness who realizes that his sharp hands cannot damage the car.

However, the new trailer does not give anything away as the studio is trying to be pragmatic and just ends with ‘in theatres soon’. The 30-second TV spot for the next Fast & Furious movie opens with a family reunion in the Toretto garden, where everyone is seemingly present: Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), Tej Parker (Ludacris), Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster), Megan Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), Sean Boswell (Lucas Black), and — somehow — Han Lue (Sung Kang), who died in Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift. The film also stars Charlize TheronJohn Cena, Helen Mirren, Bow Wow, Jason Tobin, Cardi B, Anna Sawai, Michael Rooker, Finn Cole, Vinnie Bennett, Ozuna, and Francis Ngannou.

Y: 1883

The third season of Yellowstone was the most watched season premiere on cable in two years. The show - co created by Taylor Sheridan & John Linson - has also developed a rabid fan community. On the heels of that success - viewers will get a special sneak peek at Sheridan's new series for Paramount+ - a prequel to the smash drama titled Y: 1883 during the Super Bowl. According to a press release, the new prequel series “follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plans toward the last bastion of untamed America.”
