This whole thing about colour and how dark the baby is is bulls**t: Meghan Markle's father Thomas Markle

Meghan Markle's father Thomas Markle said on Tuesday that he did not think the British royal family was racist, and hoped that an alleged remark from a family member about the darkness of the skin of Meghan's son was just a "dumb question". Meghan said that her son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, now aged one, had been denied the title of prince because there were concerns within the royal family about "about how dark his skin might be when he's born".

"I have great respect for the royals, and I don't think the British royal family are racist at all. I don't think the British are racist, I think Los Angeles is racist, California is a racist, but I don't think the Brits are," Thomas told ITV. "This whole thing about colour and how dark the baby is is bullshit,” he added.

“They (Harry and Meghan) went way over the top with these stories with Oprah and should have waited, considering the Queen’s age and Philip’s age,” he said. “I’m guessing and hoping that it’s just a dumb question from somebody. I don’t think the British royal family are racist,” he added.

Talking about the Royal family, Meghan had revealed that they refused to make her son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor a prince. "They didn't want him to be a prince or princess, not knowing what the gender would be, which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn't going to receive security. In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, so we have in tandem the conversation of, you won't be given security, not gonna be given a title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born," Meghan revealed.

Thomas' remark comes more than 36 hours after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a series of damning accusations in their first sit-down interview since stepping back from life as senior royals and moving to the US last year.
