Angelina Jolie claims she feared for her family's safety while married to Brad Pitt, says divorce decision wasn't taken 'lightly'

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, known as Brangelina, were once Hollywood's golden couple. They are said to be the highest-paid stars and were a brand themselves. The actors tied the knot in August 2014 and share 6 children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and 13-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. However, Angelina and Brad decided to split in September 2016 due to irreconcilable differences. Years later, they are still entangled in a messy custody battle.

Amid the legal battle, Angelina spoke to an international daily and gave a rare insight into her divorce with Brad. During the interview, the actress refrained from giving out many details as she is 'sworn to silence'. However, she did briefly mention that the divorce arose out of the fear for her children's safety. When she was asked about it, she said, "Yes, for my family. My whole family.”

Without sharing much, Angelina told the daily, "I’m not the kind of person who makes decisions like the decisions I had to make lightly. It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children."

Angelina admitted that her recent divorce and experiences have left her broken and all she wants is to move on with her family. "It’s not that I want to talk about anything really, because I just want my family to heal. And I want everyone to move forward – all of us, including their dad. I want us to heal and be peaceful. We’ll always be a family," she said.
