Apple TV+ and A2 have unveiled a new teaser trailer for The Tragedy of Macbeth, a new adaptation of William Shakespeare's popular play Macbeth by Joel Coen and starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand in the lead. The Tragedy of Macbeth premiered at the New York Film Festival in September and recieved rave reviews.
The 43-second teaser gives us the glimpse of Lord and Lady Macbeth played by Washington and McDormand respectively with stunning black-and-white visuals that Coen and his cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel have crafted. They pay homage to films of Ingmar Bergman and to German expressionism through the film's cinematography. It also teases the titular character's ambition and the paranoia that comes with his wrongdoings. The Tragedy of Macbeth is described as a bold and fierce adaptation of the iconic Shakespeare tale of murder, madness, ambition, and wrathful cunning. It also stars Bertie Carvel, Alex Hassell, Corey Hawkins, Kathryn Hunter, Harry Melling, and Brendan Gleeson.
