James Cameron has said that Kate Winslet was a ‘bit traumatized’ after filming Titanic with the director and was probably a bit skeptical of teaming up with him again for Avatar: The Way of Water. Kate received an Academy Award nomination for playing Rose in Cameron’s magnum opus Titanic, in which she starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. The actress is teaming up again with the director for the the much-anticipated sequel to the 2009 film Avatar that releases worldwide later this month.
Given that Kate had expressed her doubts on reuniting with Cameron earlier, saying how there was so much pressure filming Titanic and that she was ‘genuinely terrified’ of him. Cameron in a recent interview admitted that it was difficult for the then-22-year-old Kate to film Titanic. He said, “I think Kate came out of Titanic a bit traumatised by the scale of the production and her responsibility within it… We’ve both been eager over time to work together again, to see what the other is about at this point in our lives and careers."
However, he also lavished praise on Kate when they reunited for Avatar 2 and said, “She’s very large and in charge on set. You’d swear she was producing the film!” The director also was quick to admit that he was indeed quite different on that set, and with the years he is “a lot more mellow now.”
On December 16, return to Pandora.
