Selena Gomez, this morning gave her most forceful statement yet to ask for the TikTok drama comparing her and ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber’s wife Hailey Bieber to stop. Selena posted a message on her Instagram Story, revealing that Hailey reached out to her and shared how people are sending her death threats calling her a ‘mean girl’ who hasn’t always treated the singer-actress kindly.
Selena in her statement wrote, “Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”
In a show of solidarity, Selena also started following Hailey on Instagram. Selena has previously too tried to stop fans scrutinizing Hailey and her marriage to Justin, although this is the first time she explicitly referred to her with her name. On March 6, she had thanked fans for their support on her TikTok and said, “Please, please be kinder and consider others mental health. My heart has been heavy, and I only want good for everyone. All my love.”
Neither Justin nor Hailey have commented on the issue since the TikTok drama began. However, during Hailey’s Call Her Daddy interview in September, she spoke about the hatred she received from people online and the toll it had taken on her mental health. She also revealed that Selena and she had talked privately and were on good terms.
Hailey said, “Yes, (we have spoken). Yes (we have spoken after my marriage). So that’s why I’m like, it’s all respect, it’s all love. It’s also why I feel like if everybody on our side knows what happened, and we’re good and we could walk away with clarity and respect, then that’s fine. Which had brought me a lot of peace, and I’m like, ‘hey, we know what happened. It is what it is.’ You’re never going to be able to correct every narrative, and there’s going to be new ones that come (from this interview). It’s never going to end, and that’s why I get to the point where like, that’s why I didn’t speak about a lot of this stuff because I’m like, there will be something new. ” She had also reiterated that she never dated Justin when he was in a relationship with Selena or with anyone else for that matter.
