The first trailer of Wes Anderson’s directorial Asteroid City has dropped online and it’s safe to say that it has all the signature moves and hallmarks of the director. The film boasts of a stellar star cast that includes Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, and Jeff Goldblum.
Asteroid City takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955 where the itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

Jason Schwartzman plays Mitch Campbell, a widower whose car breaks down in the arid but folksy Asteroid City while he is driving his three kids across the country. He reaches out to his father-in-law for help, played by Tom Hanks and strikes up a friendship that bows towards romance with an actress played by Scarlett Johansson. As they get closer, it turns out that an extra-terrestrial is also getting closer to the city with news of the universe to impart.
Asteroid City will release only in theaters on June 16, 2023.
