Canadian pop star, The Weeknd has changed his name on social media to Abel Tesfaye, his birth name. The singer asked his fans on Twitter if he should make the change.

He asked his fans in a tweet, "ABEL formally known as The Weeknd?" The post received over one hundred thousand likes. In a recent interview, the artist revealed that he wanted to “kill the Weeknd.”

He said, “I'm going through a cathartic path right now. It's getting to a place and time where I'm getting ready to close The Weeknd chapter. I'll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I'm definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn. This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I've said everything I can say.”
