The Government of Maharashtra announced a strict curfew in the state as the second wave of COVID-19 has hit the entire country hard. Soon after the announcement, several Bollywood celebrities jetted off to the Maldives to spend some quality time with their loved ones. Thanks to the pristine turquoise water bodies and thrilling sports, the island became Bollywood's go-to spot to beat the Mumbai heat.
However, on Sunday, Maldives' Ministry of Tourism announced that it has suspended tourists travelling from India with effect from April 27. A statement on Twitter read, "With effect from 27 April @HPA_mv suspends tourists travelling from #India to #Maldives from staying at tourist facilities in inhabited islands. We thank you for the support in our endeavour to make tourism safest possible with minimum inconvenience."

Right after the statement was released, celebrities, who were vacationing in the Maldives, returned to Mumbai. Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor were spotted at the airport. The lovebirds were twinning in white. Alia and Ranbir headed to the Maldives after recovering from COVID-19.
On the other hand, Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani also returned to the city from the Maldives. The actress opted for a pink crop top and ripped jeans while Tiger kept it simple.
Bollywood celebrities faced severe backlash for vacationing amid the COVID-19 second wave. People, including actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, slammed them for flaunting their privilege when the common man is suffering.
