Dilip Kumar passed away at the age of 98 in Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital. A leading daily's report revealed that he was suffering from advanced prostate cancer that had spread in other organs of his body. He suffered from kidney failure, as reported by the daily. The legendary actor was taken home for the final time by his wife Saira Banu. Bollywood celebrities visited their residence to offer condolences.
Shah Rukh Khan, who often mentioned that Dilip Sahab was his idol, paid a visit to his residence to pay his last respects. For the unversed, Saira Banu often said in the past that if Dilip Sahab and she had a son, he would have looked like Shah Rukh. In fact, Dilip Sahab had given the ceremonial clap for Shah Rukh's film Dil Aashna Hai. The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actor had even taken Dilip Sahab's autograph on a life-size poster of Madhubala and Salim and had mounted that in his screening theatre.
