Veteran actor Ghanshyam Nayak passed away at the age of 77 on Sunday. He was battling cancer since 2020 and was seeking treatment through chemotherapy. Known for his work in Gujarati and Hindi cinema and television, he was last seen as Natu Kaka on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He was one of the most loved characters and fans enjoyed his banter with Jethalal played by Dilip Joshi.
On Monday, Mr Nayak was cremated at a crematorium in Mumbai. The cast of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was present for the funeral. Dilip along with Munmun Dutta, Tanuj Mahashabde, Amit Bhatt, Samay Shah and creator Asit Kumarr Modi were seen at the crematorium. Bhavya Gandhi, who played Tapu before Raj Anadkat replaced him, also attended the funeral.
Mr Nayak took a break from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah in 2020 for surgery to remove eight lumps from his neck. After the surgery, it was revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer. Since then, he wasn't seen much on the show.
