Lata Mangeshkar's demise at the age of 92 has left a major void in Indian cinema. The end of an era came this morning at Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital. With heavy hearts, the legendary singer's family, friends and fans will be cremating her at Mumbai's Shivaji Park this evening.

Ahead of the funeral, Lata Didi's mortal remains were taken to her Peddar Road apartment, Prabhu Kunj, for people to pay their last respects. The ambulance carrying the mortal remains reached her residence some time ago.

Amid heavy police security, the mortal remains were taken home. 

After a few hours, the family will be heading for the cremation which will take place with full state honours.
