Ranveer Singh signed out from Padmavati via a Twitter post, sharing a wrap-up picture with his fans featuring a black and white portrait image of himself as Alauddin Khilji. He had captioned the image, “And it's a wrap! Goodbye Alauddin. One year and a few weeks later, I bid thee farewell. May your restless soul find its peace... #Khilji.”
…And with that he shrugged off the cape of the cruel conqueror of the 13th century, and plunged right back into the present. The actor took an evening flight out to New York, where he has already started work for Gully Boy.
Even though he will have just a week there before Ranveer has to return to Mumbai to tee off promotions for Padmavati, he will be making optimum use of his time there as he preps to play a rapper in the Zoya Akhtar directorial.
A coming of age film based on the life of street rappers in Mumbai, the story of Gully Boy is set against the backdrop of the city’s street rappers from its chawls and ghettos. Zoya and Ranveer had previously attended a few sessions of two street rappers, Naezy and Divine, who were the subjects of a documentary, Bombay 70, while researching for the film. Gully Boy is reportedly inspired by the life of these two rappers.
Last evening, Ranveer stepped out from BBlunt salon, chopping off his 'silky' tresses, and getting into the avatar of a rapper. Wearing his character like a second skin, RS is seen in leopard print shorts, white T-shirt, those crazy AF socks and his fav accessory - a poartable speaker set. One cannot help but gawk in wonder about Ranveer's new look.
Meanwhile, the poor lad had tough time while getting the new haircut, and letting go his hardwork of last one year. Check out the series of videos:

As Ranveer gets his rapping skills right in NYC, we can’t help wonder if he will catch up with his colleague Ranbir Kapoor, who is also in the Big Apple, prepping for Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. Just yesterday we told you that he had started taking DJ lessons at New York's The Foxgrove, a boutique electronic music and DJ school. Ranbir is apparently being trained by company founder David Maurice, who he was snapped with at the office and also at work. The (unverified) Instagram page of The Foxgrove had shared images of the duo, captioning them: “No big deal, just the hottest Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor taking a few DJ lessons with us.”
