The Power Brands Bollywood Film Journalist Awards is an award function which is decided by a jury of film critics and have no nominations. Both winners and runner-ups get awarded. Organized by Planman Motion Pictures and Daily Indian Media, the award ceremony us the only film awards which is decided on the basis of open ballot voting done by 22 film critics and journalists and is the most transparent award function.

Vidya Balan who attended the event was awarded as the Best Actress for Tumhari Sulu. On receiving the award she said, "I thank all the 22 jury members, eminent journalists who voted for me. TUMHARI SULLU is a very special film for me and my producer Tanuj Garg, and I am extremely delighted to have received this award tonight. I have always believed in working on films that offers me something new to explore. And anything that's new can either be a success or a flop. But when you are recognized for taking up challenges, encourages you to do better in life. This is something ‘special’."

Rajkumar Rao bagged the award for Best Actor for Trapped and Newton. It was Trapped for which he won the highest vote and Newton for which he was the runner-up. In his speech, he said, " I think this is one of those moments when you feel good about yourself. As an actor, I choose the best I get offered, and when that work gets recognized by 22 eminent journalists from across the country, that reinstalls faith in the work that I am doing. Thanks for the appreciation.”
Raveena Tandon who received a special award said, “This Award is one of the most democratic award, because of its transparency. This will also remain very special for me because this for the first time that I am receiving an award with my husband Anil Thadani. If I am the "power" than he is the "brand", we complement each other.

Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Others who also attended the event were Sonali Kulkarni, Ram Kamal, Kay Kay Menon and his wife Nivedita Bhattacharya, Meher Vij, Sachin Khedekar, Raveena Tandon's husband Anil Thadani, Anu Kapoor, Subi Samuel and many more from print and electronic media.
