Mumbai is graced by the well-known director of Dark knights, Christopher Nolan, who along with his wife and children, is visiting India on a three-day tour.
He is here to take part in a discussion regarding the future of Indian cinemas. Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, Filmmaker-archivist takes the credit of getting Christopher Nolan to fly down to India for three days. Mr. Singh hopes the director’s trip to India will help in the cause of film preservation and restoration. Christopher Nolan is one of the directors to shoot on photochemical film when the world went digital.
It is also rumored that he will be meeting eminent personalities from Bollywood like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Shyam Benegal to name a few, to discuss the future of films.
This picture shows him and his wife attending an event at Dr.Bhau Dhaji Lad Museum, where Tatia Dean will be speaking on how celluloid film can be placed in museums. Christopher Nolan envisions a bright future for celluloid in Indian cinema and is now in India trying to draw attention to the importance of celluloid in this digital era.
As Shivendra Singh puts it, "Our idea is not to fight on digital versus celluloid, but we are encouraging the practice of celluloid film shooting. These days, youngsters are only shooting in digital, but they should also have the choice of celluloid film. For that, they should know the advent of celluloid to reframe the future of film."
Aamir Khan was so inspired by Christopher Nolan's movies that he was motivated to create a film like Ghajini. It indeed is a boon to Bollywood to get such international support from people like Christopher Nolan - a talented director and a celebrated visual artist.
Mr. Nolon has fifteen years of directing movies to his credit and he will be attending the Cannes Film Festival in May for the first time.
