Kim Kardashian’s ‘SKIMS’ & ‘KIMONO’
Shortly after Kardashian West, 39, announced the name of her new company in June 2019, fans criticized her use of the word ‘KIMONO’, a traditional Japanese clothing item.
The mayor of Kyoto, Daisaku Kadokawa, issued a statement to Kardashian on Friday asking her to drop the trademark on her shapewear range. She swiftly took a step back and decided to change the name to ‘SKIMS’, despite already printing the label on millions of garments.
Trust the Kardashians to keep the buzz alive!
Zac Posen pulling the shutters down
Zac Posen imprinted the fashion world with his extravagant evening gowns and cocktail dresses. It was announced the management of the Zac Posen’s company was looking for potential buyers. The House of Z was up for grabs; however, the deal fell through, and the management was left with the difficult decision to have the House of Z close its doors.
Pulling shutters on his own namesake label, Zac said in a statement, “My partners and I tried everything possible within our means to find solutions to keep it going. I have been trying to find the right strategic partners at this tough time in retail and in the industry. The clock ran out."
You’ll be missed, Zac. Red carpets won’t be the same without your creations. *deep sigh*
Karl Lagerfeld's Death
The news of ICONIC designer Karl Lagerfeld's death has hit us like a trainwreck. The man, who was the creative director of Chanel and Fendi, managed 3 labels, namely the two aforementioned brands and his namesake, together for more than 20 years and released approximately 15 collections in one year itself!
The LBD, fur details, pearl add-ons, tweed and so much more, these iconic elements are his contribution to the brand. But his ideas and his love for his work often became a problem to the others, but it never fazed him. He has more than often been a part of controversies which found its foundation in his proactive and sometimes, statements.
And oh boy, his fortunate cat, Choupette inherited a legacy of 14,000 crores! Talk about ICONIC!

Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty show
Rihanna’s second annual SavageXFenty showcase held in the New York City on September 20 changed the lingerie game forever. Featuring a diverse group of models with varying body types and skin tones, promoting inclusivity and the fact, that there is no bar for feeling sexy, was on the top of her to-do list. Yet again, Rihanna did something completely out-of-the-box!
From the look, touch and feel of her lingerie down to its very tag, she took care of all the details herself. She even began the show with a routine, nothing beats that;
Take a look:
‘ABSOLUTELY EPIC’ would be an understatement!
Dolce & Gabbana and Victoria's Secret cancelling their shows
Dolce & Gabbana has cancelled a high-profile catwalk show in Shanghai following an outcry over what many in China perceived to be a racist marketing campaign, where a Chinese model was seen eating Italian food with chopsticks. Although the video was removed within 24 hours, social media was flooded with remarks and flak for the same. The co-founders then issued an apology. “We are very sorry for any distress caused by these unauthorized posts, comments, and direct messages. We have nothing but respect for China and the people of China," they said in a statement.
L Brands has cancelled 2019’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, saying the decision was part of a move to “evolve the messaging of [the company]”. The brand acknowledged that sales continue to decline, but netizens and critiques think that's not entirely why they cancelled the show. Some also suggest that it was because many protested at their lack of inclusivity at the runway. Well, what are your thoughts?
LVMH buying FENTY and Tiffany & Co.
Rihanna became the first woman of colour to lead a house, her label Fenty, under the LVMH brand, and the first woman to create an original brand for the group. Fenty, which produces clothing, shoes, and accessories, is the first new label under the LVMH brand since 1987. "I couldn't imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I'm ready for the world to see what we have built together,” she said in a statement.
Well, we are looking on and we can’t stop; what about you?
Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy just dropped a bomb on us! The French luxury group announced that they are, indeed acquiring Tiffany and Co. with a whopping deal! After weeks of anticipation, the two companies announced that LVMH will pay the Manhattan jeweler $135 for each share, valuing Tiffany at around $16.2 billion! The deal is set to manifest in mid-2020.
Cannot keep calm!
Nike's step towards inclusivity and revolution
Nike takes the plunge into modest swimwear with its new collection and it includes a Hijab! The brand says the collection was inspired by swimmers who found the current options, which don’t provide full coverage, were a “barrier” to enjoying the sport.
Previously, the brand introduced plus-sized mannequins at its London flagship store. While many took it as a step forward towards body positivity, many lashed out at the name of popularizing an unhealthy lifestyle.
