Your dose of all the hit and hot stuff this week!

LFW Madness!

Fashion Week is upon us and the excitement has been on a ramp-age! From Diana Penty, Yami Gautam, Gul Panag, Isabella Kaif, and Sagarika Ghatge at Anita Dongre’s showing, with all eyes on the romance-fuelled show-stoppers Shahid Kapoor and Mira, to style beacon Rajesh Pratap Singh who made an eco-conscious collection look so much fun – we had it all covered! We gawked at the bling and feathers Falguni and Shane Peacock incorporated as they debuted their menswear collection, lusted after the merino wool saris and bandhgalas sent out by Manish Malhotra, and revelled in Tarun Tahiliani’s celestial inspired extravaganza. What’s not to love?

The battle is won
After doubts whether it would even release, Padmaavat continues on its spree of success, breaking a few records this past week. It established itself at No.8 on the list of highest second Friday collections of all time. Its total collection now stands at an estimated Rs.169 crore. And no, it is far from done yet!

Rah, rah, Queen Dee!
Deepika Padukone spoke out about overtaking the gender pay gap. “I’ve never viewed it as wanting to be paid more than someone else. That’s just a by-product. What I see as a bigger achievement is the budget that was approved for Padmavati. Especially it being the most expensive film with a female protagonist. This opens doors for more such opportunities with such budgets.” DP says all the right things, doesn’t she?

Hot Stuff
Ranveer Singh got down to assessing his very hypnotic Khilji. “It was a huge risk. I was very apprehensive about taking the risk but Bhansali was very persistent in his pursuit of me and he is the one who convinced me that I would be able to pull it off.” He also admitted it’s a character whose ambitions and greed he does not relate to, even though he has his eyes on building a vast legacy of filmography to be proud of.

Friendly Sparring?
Shahid Kapoor sent out a loaded jibe when he claimed, “Which actor would not wish to play a character like Khilji in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film? You know, once on ‘Koffee with Karan’, Ranveer said he would have done my role in Kaminey better than me… I would have done Khilji differently.” Ball’s in your court now, Ranveer.

Angry & Justified
With his magnum opus finally in theatres, Sanjay Leela Bhansali could finally unzip his lips… “This doesn’t happen anywhere else in the world,” he said, alluding to the violence the film faced from fringe groups. “It’s very scary. I have overcome it, but the anger hasn’t subsided. The greatest support came in the form of the audiences’ decision to go to cinema halls and watch it. It was a message to those who protested, a sign that viewers aren’t scared. If people’s voices get louder, in the future, we won’t succumb to them.” That’s a big ‘if’…

Trouble in the House!
Rather a nasty jolt, as Moreshwar Ajgaonkar, director of Deja Vu Farms Pvt Ltd, issued a statement to the IT department alleging that Shah Rukh Khan had asked him to forge the documents of his sprawling Alibaug property! This came after the Income Tax department had provisionally attached Deja Vu Farms Pvt Ltd located at Alibaug, a beach town near Mumbai. The attachment notice was issued under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act (PBPT) in December.

The Gym Thing
One-year-old Taimur Ali Khan has been setting trends practically from the moment he was born. Now he introduces the hoi polloi to a new concept – a fitness centre for toddlers! Clad in a blue T-shirt, the adorable tot has enrolled in the gym, which offers programs and facilities to help children develop physically, cognitively and emotionally. Phew! Now we’ve seen everything.

Gush Mode
Both Deepika and Ranveer were the proud recipients of Amitabh Bachchan’s special hand-written notes of appreciation. Both also made sure to tell the world they had received them. While Deepika took to Instagram to share, “There are awards…there are rewards…& then there is THIS! Thank You Baba…
