After 27 years, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor are back together, in the most unusual love story of a father and a son. The film is 102 Not Out and it has fans eager awaiting D-day on May 4, 2018. A comedy about living life to the full, the film is based on a Gujarati stage play by Saumya Joshi, about a father and son love story. According to Joshi who wrote the adapted screenplay, “The idea of adapting (the play) into a Hindi feature came from the fact that the relationship between a parent and a child is universal and the one where love supersedes everything else, including age! Amitabh Sir and Rishi Sir together are a dream cast for anyone.”
That observation is spot-on – the two are a dream cast. The duo has worked together in no less than 10 films, including Kabhi Kabhie, Ajooba, Naseeb, Delhi 6, Coolie, Naseeb, Amar Akbar Anthony, Mehrunisa, Chala Murari Hero Banne and Om Shanti Om.

Here’s a quick look at our faves…
Amar Akbar Anthony
Along with Vinod Khanna, they played the brothers separated during childhood and raised in different homes. Rishi grows up to be Akbar, a singer, while Amitabh becomes Anthony, the owner of a country liquor bar. This 1977 Indian action comedy film, directed and produced by Manmohan Desai, promoted religious tolerance and became a landmark in Bollywood masala films.
Naseeb
Manmohan Desai’s action comedy of 1981, saw Amitabh play Johnny, while Rishi played his younger brother, Sunny. A tale of wronged brothers whose father has been presumably murdered, the film was a blend of revenge, love, friendship, sacrifice and destiny.
Delhi 6
Both actors featured in the 2009 Indian musical drama film directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Rishi played Ali Baig, while Amitabh played Annapurna (Waheeda Rehman)’s husband in this story about love, hope and self-discovery set in the old walled city of Delhi.
Kabhi Kabhie
This Yash Chopra directorial of 1976 brought Amitabh and Rishi together in a strange connection. Rishi plays the boy who falls in love with the illegitimate child of Amitabh’s wife. The film was a love story of generations and showed how a chain of events brings together old lovers as friends.
Coolie
The duo was also seen in the 1983 action comedy film, directed by Manmohan Desai. While Amitabh played Iqbal, a railway coolie, Rishi was seen in a supporting role. The film had made over Rs.10 million per territory, a rare achievement for the time. It was during the shooting of this film that Amitabh was near-fatally injured while filming a fight scene.
Ajooba
Last seen together onscreen in 1991, they starred in this fantasy superhero film produced and directed by Shashi Kapoor. Based loosely on Arabian mythology, it had Amitabh as Ajooba, the masked rider in black, saviour of the oppressed. His plain self is the ordinary restauranteur Ali, whose friend is Hasan, played by Rishi. Together they foil the Vazir's evil schemes, raid his caravans, and woo their girls. Such fun!
