Bollywood parties can turn into battlefields in the blink of an eye. Downing shots can quickly turn into taking pot-shots and before you know it, the revelry has turned into a riot – and not in a good way, haha.
Rishi Kapoor, something of a serial offender, recently proved this yet again at the Sonam-Anand wedding reception. Upset that Salman Khan had supposedly not greeted him properly, RK senior chose to give Salman’s sister-in-law Seema Khan a earful. Fortunately, Kapoor stormed out of the do before Bhai, who was busy on the dance floor, could hear of this. Now that would have brought the whole house down!
Varun Dhawan had stormed out too, at Karan Johar’s birthday party. The simmering onscreen rivalry between him and Sidharth Malhotra had found its way into real life as well. The squabbling ‘students’ got into a heated argument. What had started off as a joke, soon spiralled into a full-blown fight, with some guests having to intervene and sort things out.
Action galore when Half Girlfriend director Mohit Suri had beer splashed on his face by former assistant director Leena Tandon after he passed a nasty comment about her. Blood Money director Vishal Mahadkar, who was Leena’s companion at the pub, then scooted over to grab Mohit’s collar. Blows were exchanged on both sides and those present in the pub that night got more entertainment than they had paid for.
Ronit Roy and Aditya Pancholi, who've been the best of friends, nearly came to blows as well at a party. From an animated conversation, things heated up till they started hurling abuses at each other. An infuriated Ronit even smashed a glass - on the floor and not on Aditya himself! Later both actors denied the fracas ever happened – amnesia is a by-product of alcohol, don’t we know!
Again, it was in a pub back in 2005 that sparks flew between Sohail Khan and Sikander Kher. Siku, as he is called by his friends, apparently passed a nasty comment about Salman, which younger bro Sohail didn’t take kindly at all. Brawling ensued, with actor Ashmit Patel also joined in the free-for-all.
Teasing can go drastically after several pegs have been downed. When Salman Khan teased Shah Rukh Khan that despite being a superstar he could not make his TV show ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?’ a hit, the ribbing struck too close to the bone. SRK reportedly retaliated by making a crack at Salman’s special girl, Katrina Kaif. Tempers flared and some very nasty business occurred, dividing the industry between these superstar Khans. Years later, poor Kat’s party is remembered only for this sensational spat.
Similarly, Sanjay Dutt’s Agneepath party became memorable for being the occasion at which Shah Rukh Khan pinned down director Shirish Kunder, who had been stalking him all evening, and delivered several tight slaps. Kunder had been insulting SRK’s Ra.One on social media, tweeting, “I just heard a Rs150 crore firework fizzle.” To make things worse, he also murmured nasty somethings into the superstar’s ears at the party. Naturally, there had to be consequences of the violent kind!
