Veteran film and television actress Rita Bhaduri passed away today in the early hours of the morning at the age of 62. Reportedly, she was undergoing treatment fa or kidney ailment and suffered a cardiac arrest this morning. The actress had been in ICU for the past ten days. As per her niece, Mini Bhaduri, "She (Ritaji) was suffering from a kidney ailment and organs had become weak. She passed away due to cardiac arrest at about 1.45 am."
Noted actor Shishir Sharma took to his Facebook account and broke the news of the veteran actress' death.

Ritaji was a veteran of many films and television serials. In a career spanning three decades, the actress gave many iconic and powerful performances. She made her silver screen debut with the 1968 film Teri Talash.

She also starred opposite Kamal Haasan in a Malayalam film titled Kanyakumari. It was the Malayalam debut of Haasan and he bagged his first Filmfare Award for the part. Rita, might not have had a successful stint as a leading lady but did exceptional work as a supporting actress.

Ritaji played a memorable part in 1975 classic Julie. She played the part of the female lead's best friend. The popular song Yeh Ratein Nayi Purani was picturized on her.
Sawan Ko Aane Do
She played the role of Gitanjali in this film which was made under the banner of Rajshri Productions. The film stars Arun Govil, Zarina Wahab, Rita Bhaduri and Amrish Puri. Ritaji had a pivotal and integral part in the narrative of the film.
Ghar Ho To Aisa
In Ghar Ho To Aisa Rita Bhaduri shared screen space with Anil Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Bindu, Kader Khan and Meenakshi Seshadri. Bhaduri plays the role of Kanchan, Bindu's daughter and Anil's sister. Playing the character of a domineering woman who stays at her mother's house even after marriage and dominates over her husband, Ritaji impressed one and all with her sly portrayal.
Raja
Raja was probably the biggest film of Bhaduri's career as she received a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award nomination for the film. The film stars Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Dalip Tahil and Mukesh Khanna.
Hero No. 1
Ritaji was one again in her element playing the role of a difficult and snooty daughter-in-law. She played the role of Tiku Talsania's wife in the film which starred Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Kader Khan in lead roles.
Amaanat
The actress played an extremely popular and iconic role in the television serial Amaanat that also starred Sudhir Pandey, Bharat Kapoor, Pooja Madan, Swapnil Joshi, Shreyas Talpade, Smita Bansal and Gracy Singh. Her strong-willed, as well as a supportive mother-in-law character, was a pleasant surprise from all the evil mothers-in-law depicted in popular culture.
Nimki Mukhiya
Bhaduri was most recently seen playing the role of the grandmother in the popular serial Nimki Mukhiya. The role fetched her accolades and love from her audience.
Ritaji's untimely demise is an extremely sad news for the world of Indian television and films as she was a prolific actress who shined in any role bestowed upon her.
