Homi Can't Forgot Dimple
Angrezi Medium director Homi Adajania has started shooting for his ambitious web series, Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine in Jaipur. As we exclusively revealed in May, Radhika Madan plays a lead role in this Disney+Hotstar show, backed by Dinesh Vijan under his new digital content company, Outsider Films. And now, guess who's joined the cast? Homi Adajania's favourite Dimple Kapadia, who's been a part of the filmmaker's every project since his debut with Being Cyrus in 2005. Yes, no surprise for guessing it right.
Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine revolves around women working in the drug business, and Kapadia will play an old member of a family who seemingly runs an embroidery business in Kutch which is just a front for its biggest cocaine cartel in South Asia. The women of the series run the drug business so secretively that even the men in the family who're working abroad and visit only twice a year don't know what they're doing. Apart from Madan and Kapadia, the series features a bunch of more powerful actresses leading the cast, however, their identities have been kept under wraps at this moment.
Dimple Kapadia is gearing up for a busy 2022. The actress, who made her Hollywood debut this year with Christopher Nolan's global hit Tenet, will have four releases next year including the Homi Adajania series. She will next be seen in Saurabh Shukla's romantic comedy Jab Khuli Kitaab with Pankaj Kapur, and then with Boney Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, and Shraddha Kapoor in Luv Ranjan's next directorial. Her biggest release of 2022 will be Yash Raj Films' spy thriller Pathan that stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham in the lead. Kapadia is reportedly playing SRK's boss in this Siddharth Anand directorial.
Wedding Done, Shooting Chalu
Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif have returned to work after their high-profile wedding in Jaipur early this month. While Vicky has resumed shooting for Laxman Utekar's rom-com with Sara Ali Khan for Dinesh Vijan's banner, Katrina has started shooting for Sriram Raghavan's Merry Christmas that was announced just yesterday. The festive thriller, produced by Ramesh Taurani and Sanjay Routray, finally went on floors last week after its previous schedule was cancelled at the last moment in July. Raghavan has pulled off a casting coup by signing South superstar Vijay Sethupathi alongside Kaif in this thrilling drama that is set to release in theatres next Christmas weekend.
Both Vicky and Katrina are looking forward to a fantastic 2022 with multiple films lined up ahead. Vicky has Dharma Productions' rom-com, Govinda Naam Mera, with Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar, scheduled for June 2022 release while Katrina's horror-comedy Phone Bhoot with Ishaan Khatter and Siddhanth Chaturvedi opens in cinemas in July 2022. Vicky is currently shooting for Laxman Utekar's film and will then head to Anand Tiwari's rom-com with Tripti Dimri that goes on floors in February. He will follow that film with Meghna Gulzar's ambitious Sam Bahadur which also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh sometime mid-next year. Katrina Kaif, on the other hand, will resume shooting for Tiger 3 soon after wrapping up Merry Christmas. She is said to be doing one more quickie before her highly anticipated road-trip film Jee Le Zaraa with Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt gets off the ground in September 2022.
Five Star To Akshay Kumar
If there's one Bollywood star who's walking ahead of time it's the Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar. When all the other actors are gearing up for their 2022 releases, Akshay is setting up his 2023 lineup as he has already finished the films that will come out next year. The superstar will have FIVE FILMS across a gamut of genres releasing throughout 2022, entertaining audiences across mediums. He's starting the new year with Yash Raj Films' historical epic, Prithviraj that's scheduled to come out on Republic Day weekend in January. The Chandraprakash Dwivedi directorial sees him in the role of legendary warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan while Manushi Chillar, Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, and Ashutosh Rana play the pivotal roles.
Akshay's second release will be Sajid Nadiadwala's commercial entertainer Bachchan Pandey, co-starring Kriti Sanon. He plays the role of a rustic gangster who gets inspired to fight for justice after a harrowing incident in this Farhad Samji film, slated to release on 4th March. Akshay will then return to cinemas during Independence Day weekend with Aanand L Rai's heartwarming, emotional drama Raksha Bandhan in which he plays a doting brother to four sisters. Raksha Bandhan will be followed by Abhishek Sharma's Ram Setu on 24th October 2022. Akshay plays an archeologist in this action-adventure drama that reflects a significant part of India's historical heritage. Akshay's fifth and last release will be Amit Rai's Oh My God 2 in which he plays the role of Lord Shiva. The release date for this social comedy, also starring Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam has not been decided yet.
And remember, we are talking about his 2022 release only. For 2023, Akshay has Ranjit Tewari's Mission Cinderella, Raj Mehta's Driving License remake with Emraan Hashmi, Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan's Gorkha, Ali Abbas Zafar's actioner with Tiger Shroff, and the hugely anticipated Amazon Prime series, The End. He is also said to be doing a thriller film for Panorama Studios.
