Salman Khan’s Writers Pad
The streaming boom in India has kind of revolutionised the importance of writers. People behind the great stories you’ve been watching and enjoying over the years are finally getting their due, receiving the accolades and recognition they deserve. Thanks to streaming services where content is superior to anything else, the writers have started to make their mark with their unique, original Indian stories. Lately, Indian filmmakers have also been adopting a Hollywood approach of "writers room" for OTT shows. Now, one hears Salman Khan is also setting up a separate division, curated especially for writers, under his banner, Salman Khan Films.
The buzz is that Salman Khan is teaming up with various seasoned screenwriters to build a "Writers' Pad". The plan is to establish an in-house writers’ team under his production banner and provide opportunities to new talents looking for producers to back their scripts. Salman’s father, the legendary screenplay writer Salim Khan, is said to be overseeing the new division. A separate office has also been set up for it close to SKF’s office in Bandra. Salman has always come forward to support the screenwriters, even though his own films have always been criticized for not having a "fleshed out script." Here’s hoping his association with Writers Pad is seen in his upcoming film choices as well.
John Abraham shifts Sajid Khan’s film for Dinesh Vijan
Here are some more unplanned changes in John Abraham’s calendar. The action star was earlier supposed to begin Jagan Shakti’s Ayyappanum Koshiyum remake with Arjun Kapoor in January, but it was suddenly put on the backburner just two weeks before it was supposed to roll. The delay in Pathan’s shooting was cited as the reason behind the postponement of Shakti’s film. John then gave his Ayyappanum Koshium dates to Sajid Khan’s comeback directorial, co-starring Riteish Deshmukh, and was to begin shooting for it in March 2022 in London. However, that film has also been postponed now.
Sajid Khan’s action-comedy will now go into production only in August this year. It’s still unclear why the film was delayed when all the pre-production work was going as per schedule. Nonetheless, John is not sitting at home and will fly to Spain for the final stretch of Pathan next month. Soon after wrapping the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone actioner, he will head to Dinesh Vijan’s Tehran, an action thriller based on true events. The film, directed by Arun Gopalan, is scheduled to hit theatres during Republic Day weekend in 2023.

Esha Deol Takhtani is set to return to the screen after nearly a decade away. The actress plays Ajay Devgn’s wife in the forthcoming Disney+Hotstar series, Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, adapted from the British series Luther. Now, we heard Esha has already signed a couple of projects even before her comeback venture premieres on March 4th. Esha is in high spirits to be back in front of the camera and will star next in Suniel Shetty’s debut OTT series, Invisible Woman. Esha has already started shooting for the show in Mumbai and will be seen sharing screen space with Esha Gupta, Rahul Dev, Sudha Chandran, Karanvir Sharma and Mihir Ahuja among others. Backed by Yoodlee Films, Invisible Woman has been described as a noir, action-thriller that follows the story of a cop who gets a chance to clean up his past when falsely implicated for the murder of an old woman. Tamil director Rajesh M. Selva, known for his Vikram-starrer Kadaram Kondan, is helming the series.
