Akshay Kumar's flawless comic timing, Emraan Hashmi's emotional stability to perfect supporting cast, here's what makes Raj Mehta's Selfiee stand tall

Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi's Selfiee has arrived in theatres globally today. Directed by Raj Mehta, the family entertainer also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha, Diana Penty, Meghna Malik, Abhimanyu Singh and Neev Ahuja. The official Hindi adaptation of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Malayalam hit Driving License created the right amount of buzz before its release and amid much anticipation, it has finally made it to the silver screen.

Selfiee is about a superstar named Vijay Kumar (Akshay) who is in urgent need of a driving licence to shoot for a car sequence. However, he gets into a conflict with an RTO officer (Emraan) who also happens to be his biggest fan. The film orbits around their battle. The Raj Mehta directorial has opened to positive reviews. As the box office opens for the film, here's looking at 10 reasons why you should be wasting no time in booking your tickets!

Akshay Kumar's comic and action side

Akshay Kumar does what he does best in Selfiee. One cannot doubt his comic timing and he has proven the same in the last 30 years of his career. The superstar effortlessly pulls off punchlines and even meta humour.

Emraan Hashmi hitting the right emotional chord

Emraan Hashmi has finally come out of his 'kisser boy' image and Selfiee is a refreshing break from the stereotypical roles he has played in the past. A master of his craft, the actor adds emotional and dramatic stability to the film and that's what makes it a memorable watch.

Humour

Selfiee stands tall on the foundation of humour throughout. Be it Akshay taking a dig at himself for doing countless projects in a year to his 'masoode wali smile', the film takes itself seriously when humour is at the forefront.

Child-parent emotion

The core emotion that stands out in Selfiee is that of a parent and child. Whether it is Emraan and Neev Ahuja's relationship or Akshay and Diana Penty's surrogacy angle, it makes for an important aspect.

Raj Mehta's refreshing take on Driving License

Raj Mehta has adapted Driving License with earnest efforts and it reflects. The film doesn't get boring and it is enjoyable even for those who watched the original one.

Music

The music of Selfiee is foot-tapping, situational and fits the setting perfectly.

Mass appeal

Selfiee is a film made clearly for the masses. Well, there's no doubt that the classes would enjoy it too but the purpose is to make the masses forget the stress and spend time watching a thorough entertainer.

Social message

To make a film stronger, there's a need for a strong message. Selfiee has it in abundance. It teaches you a variety of lessons without being preachy.

Supporting characters

The supporting characters are an asset to Selfiee. Abhimanyu Singh and Meghna Malik add life to the film with their impeccable screen presence and command over their comic timing. All of this makes the film a memorable affair.

Raj and Akshay's blockbuster pairing

After Good Newwz, Akshay teams up with Raj for yet another family entertainer. They make for a blockbuster pairing and there ain't a doubt.

Selfiee is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Supriya Menon, Karan Johar, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Apoorva Mehta and Listin Stephen.
