Hemant Brijwasi from Mathura won the coveted trophy of Rising Star 2, a reality singing show on Sunday. He beat other finalists Rohanpreet Singh from Punjab and Vishnumaya Ramesh from Kerala to take home the whopping prize money of Rs 20 lakhs. This is not the first time that Brijwasi has won a reality show. Apparently, he won Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs in 2009 too.
Rising Star 2 is a singing reality show and for three tough months Hemant, Rohanpreet, Vishnumaya and Zaid Ali battled it out against other singing contestants and were judged by singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan, singer-actor Monali Thakur and Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh. Hemant garnered a whopping 83% votes to win the title.

Hemant, Rohanpreet, Vishnumaya and Zaid competed till the end before the latter was eliminated. Rohanpreet and Vishnumaya at one stage were tied at 78% but the former soon edged out the latter in a stiff competition. Rohanpreet made everyone sit up with his Khuda Jaane from Bachna Ae Haseeno while Vishnumaya sang Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka from Devdas but it was Hemant’s voice that spelled magic on the audience when he sang Alvida from Life in a Metro and won the title.
Brijwasi had already garnered praise from Shankar Mahadevan and the other two judges and on Sunday he proved yet again that they were not wrong in calling him the next big star. However, this was not his only achievement, when he was only 11 years of age he had won another grueling and tough reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs in 2009. He had also participated in India’s Got Talent in 2016 and Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar 2 as well.
At the young age of 11 years old although everyone knew that Hemant was destined to be great but who had an inkling that he will go on to win another big reality show?
Brijwasi’s win has proved that talent never dies but needs to be honed and cultivated, as he himself credits his dad for inspiring and keeping him motivated. Heartiest congratulations to Hemant Brijwasi on his emphatic win in Rising Star 2.
