Salman Khan returned as the host of the game show Dus Ka Dum after nine years and everybody was certainly excited about it. The show, unfortunately, didn’t impress audiences as such and failed to live up to expectations while the actor, in an interview with a leading daily, opened up about what went wrong with it.
Dus Ka Dum aired on Mondays and Tuesdays and the 52-year-old actor is of the opinion that “nobody” knew that the show was being telecast on this account. Salman, in fact, was in support of the show airing on weekdays since people keep themselves occupied on weekends is what he thought. Hence, he believed that this idea would work but what happened, in turn, was exactly the opposite of his perception.
“What happened was we slotted the show on Monday-Tuesday, but nobody knew that it was being telecast. Wahan thodasa maar kha gaye. Even I had thought it was a brilliant idea to slot it on those days because on weekends people have several things to do. I thought ki log ghar baithke dekh sakte hain at the beginning of the week. Lekin that didn't happen because the awareness was not there,” Salman told the daily.

Speaking of awareness, the situation was such as per Salman that even his brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s mother wasn’t in the know of the fact that Dus Ka Dum had already premiered and began watching it after being informed.
“Even Atul's (Agnihotri) mother did not know about it. When the show was in its fourth week, she asked me when was it starting. Only when I told her (Atul Agnihotri's mother) it had already begun that she started watching it... in the fourth week. The makers got to know something was amiss in the second or third week and they started checking. They decided to shift it to Saturday-Sunday, which was much riskier. But they got their promotions correct this time, even I created awareness about it in the show and it started rating 1.7-1.8,” Salman told the daily, adding that he will certainly host the next season.
The finale of Dus Ka Dum, meanwhile, will be aired soon. It will definitely be an exciting episode as Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan will feature in it apart from Salman. They shot for the episode in the first week of August.
Salman, in the meantime, is thoroughly excited about hosting the twelfth season of controversial reality show Bigg Boss. Simultaneously, he is also working on his upcoming film Bharat, co-starring Katrina Kaif. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat is scheduled to release on Eid 2019.
