Film: Commando 3
Cast: Vidyut Jammwal, Adah Sharma, Angira Dhar, Gulshan Devaiah
Director: Aditya Datt
Rating: 3.5 Moons
The Aditya Datt-directed Commando 3 is the third film in the Commando film franchise and holds true to the previous two films with its action, adventure and thrill. Aditya has taken the mantle from Dilip Ghosh and Deven Bhojani who directed Commando: The One Man Army and Commando: The Black Money Trail respectively. Both did good business at the box office and Commando 3 is also expected to rake in the moolah because it will live up to the expectations of the audiences. Starring Vidyut Jammwal, Adah Sharma, Angira Dhar and Gulshan Devaiah in the lead, the film manages to pack a punch and keep you interested right till the end.
The film starts with showcasing the arrest of three young boys by the ATS who have been under training for an impending mission in India. The ATS stumbles upon their fake passports and through interrogation come to know that a mysterious man has brainwashed them against their own country while he is operating from somewhere in London. To combat the mastermind behind the terrorist activities, the Indian intelligence and police rope in Vidyut to put an end to the plot. Vidyut plays Captain Karan Singh Dogra who is aided by Bhavna Reddy (Adah Sharma) and Mallika Sood (Angira Dhar). The trio must stop the attack planned on India before it annihilates and wreaks havoc on the nation.
Vidyut’s entry is powerful and impactful and the action scenes that introduce him will leave you spellbound. The scene has already been released by the makers as a part of the promotion of the film and has already gone viral. Vidyut, who performs each stunt on his own without any body-double, ensures value-for-money and his martial arts prowess will leave you flabbergasted.
Commando 3 has stellar performances from all the lead actors. Gulshan is particularly lethal in his bad guy avatar. Angira and Adah come up tops with their performances. Vidyut is electric and shoulders the film well. The editing is crisp but do not let your attention waver otherwise you will lose the plot of the film. Cinematographer Mark Hamilton is exceptionally good in capturing the action sequences. The first half of the film is gripping, but the second half goes slack a little. Aditya, who has directed films like Table No 21 and Aashiq Banaya Apne previously, does a commendable job spinning this actioner. The film would have been more impactful if the second half had been as taut as the first. However, Commando 3 is a good watch.
