Film: Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2
Cast: Paritosh Tiwari, Bonita Rajpurohit, Abhinav Singh
Director: Dibakar Banerjee
Rating: 1.5 Moons
Is this the Dibakar Banerjee we've known? Definitely, not! Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 isn't just a badly made film but a confusing and unnecessary take on the virtual world. The first part of the film represents 'Love' or 'Like' which is symbolic of the virtual space. Share is equal to Sex whereas Dhokha is for Subscribe. Launching new faces like Paritosh Tiwari, Bonita Rajpurohit and Abhinav Singh, Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 is shallow in terms of storytelling. The 'Love' angle is a spoof of Bigg Boss wherein the story revolves around a transgender who participates in a reality show titled True Or Nach.
The Share category also has a transgender telling her story of how the power of elites can ruin the lives of the underprivileged. The final and most weird tale belongs to a YouTuber who falls prey to the metaverse. In the end, do these stories make sense? No. Do they stir sensation for frivolous reasons? Definitely! Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 is certainly Dibakar's lowest phase. It's a director's creative freedom to tell the story he wants to but the film is neither entertaining nor thrilling. Besides the obsession with cheap thrills, the film offers nothing exciting and new.
Though Dibakar intends to show the true reality of the virtual universe, the film drags itself into zones that are not justified. Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 might be trippy but not enough to satisfy the cinematic and massy thirst. The performances by the cast are not up to the standard. In a bid to show rawness, there's a basic lack of emotions. Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 deceives you into believing it's bold and beautiful, but it's definitely not that!
