Ishq Vishq Rebound Review: A Quintessential GenZ Movie

Film: Ishq Vishq Rebound
Cast: Jibraan Khan, Pashmina Roshan, Rohit Saraf, and Naila Grewal
Director: Nipun Dharmadhikari
Rating: 4 Moons

It’s Ishq in the air as we welcome the rainy season and Ishq Vishk Rebound compliments the season of love. The film introducing new faces namely Jibraan Khan, Pashmina Roshan, Rohit Saraf, and Naila Grewal is a fresh love story. Ishq Vishk Rebound is said to be a sequel to the 2003 released Ishq Vishk however this latest release has no links with the story of the og iconic film. It is genuinely new and innovative in its own right being a typical GenZ movie.

Ishq Vishk Rebound explores the dynamics of modern dating and addresses social media impact and peer pressure on the young generation. The film also talks about career ambition, family pressure, and parental relationships. The movie offers a fresh story talking about a young love tale which is confusing hoping to see a ray of light in denial. It addresses new-generation slang situationship where a person cannot decide whom he loves and wants to be in a relationship with one while likes another as well. That’s what exactly happens with Rohit Saraf’s character. Youth and GenZ will connect with the film and will love it. The movie is heartfelt and genuine without coming across as preachy.

Boys, Rohit Saraf and Jibraan Khan shine bright while girls Pashmina Roshan and Naila Grewal transcend. Rohit’s character is immature and he has done justice to it by being a cute and confused guy and proving his acting prowess. Jibraan Khan is a new talent, the film industry should look up to. The Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham young kid making his big screen appearance after years established himself as a fresh hero who can take up charming as well as serious roles. Naila had less screen time but proved her mettle with the maturity in her performance committing for a long journey as a promising actor. Pashmina Roshan is a sweet little bubbly girl looking forward to making a space in films. Every character has a beautiful arc.

Nipun Dharmadhikari’s direction is a job done right. Tips Films has endeavored to revive the romantic comedy genre that has been absent from the spotlight for some time. The Music album is the highlight of the film keeping you grooved and hooked. Every song has been beautifully created particularly the remakes from the film don’t disappoint. The title track which is also a reprised version has been retained flawlessly with a twist of new track.

This rom-com is suitable for a selected audience and not to cater to people across all age groups. The film is likely to work with young people now dubbed as GenZ. Ishq Vishk Rebound is funny, and entertaining with good performances. The film applauds the GenZ love, moving over the 90s old school fondness. How Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao’s Ishq Vishk was celebrated by young audiences of that time similarly Ishq Vishkq Rebound will be praised and glorified by young kids of today.
