Phir Aayi Hasseen Dilruba brings Taapsee Pannu back to spread her magic as a dolly bird. The film is a sequel to the Netflix’s romantic thriller Haseen Dilruba starring Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane, who dies at the end. In the second chapter, the original couple Rani and Rishu are joined by Sunny Kaushal as a new guy in their love story. While Haseen Dilruba received mixed reviews for its suspense narrative, will the sequel meet expectations?
Haseen Dilruba featured Rani and Rishu as a couple whose marriage is disturbed by the lead guy’s cousin Neel, played by Harshvardhan Rane. The film was filled with suspense, thrill and romance. It ended mysteriously with Neel’s death. The body remains missing. While police continue to search for Rishu as evidence suggests he died in an accident. However, he is fooling the cops.
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dilruba continues the story with new characters. It starts with Taapsee Pannu leading the life of a widow while she secretly meets Vikrant Massey who is living a different identity. One day the police catch up with them and to escape from their investigation, she marries Abhimanyu (Sunny Kaushal) who later finds that her husband is alive. Jimmy Shergill joins the cast as Neel’s uncle and a DSP, who then reopens the previous case. Abhimanyu comes with the history of killing his family and finds a new target in Rishu who loves Rani. Phir Aayi Hasseen Dilruba is a new mystery with suspense and thrill between the leading characters. It is also interesting to see if Rani and Rishu manage to escape and live in the second chapter as well.
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dilruba falls short of expectations set by its predecessor. As a sequel, it struggles to capture the same intrigue and suspense that made the original film a memorable one. While it continues the story from where the first part left off, it fails to offer anything new or compelling, resulting in a romantic thriller that feels predictable and uninspired. Unfortunately, it fails to sustain the mystery and suspense that made its predecessor a memorable experience. It does not add significant value to the story or enhance the suspense and romance of the original.
The direction by Jayprad Desai receives a modest score for its effort, but the film’s script lacks the depth and excitement needed to keep viewers engaged. The storyline feels loose and underdeveloped, missing the intricate plotting that could have elevated the suspense and mystery. Despite the cast’s earnest performances, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dilruba fails to make a lasting impression, ultimately leaving audiences with a sense of disappointment.
