In Bollywood, absurd stories are often popular, and sometimes they prove to be beneficial for the films. But when it comes to films like Ghudchadi, it is difficult to understand in which direction Bollywood is going. This is an example of how a weak story and ineffective direction can waste a great cast.
Ghudchadi is about a father and son between whom a strange conflict arises. The father falls in love with a woman whose daughter the son loves. Both want to get married. The biggest weakness of the story is that it seems unnatural and unrealistic. This kind of relationship between father and son and the banter between them creates a ridiculous situation which audiences cannot digest. There is no strong punch anywhere in the story and neither is there any twist that can engage viewers. Everything seems predictable, which reduces the impact of the film even more.
Despite a big and talented cast including Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Parth Samthaan and Khushali Kumar, the performances lack effect. It seems as if the actors have been dragged into this film somehow. It is disappointing to see a veteran like Sanjay Dutt in such a weak role. Raveena Tandon also seems to struggle in her role. There is neither any depth to her character nor any aspect that can impress the audience. Parth Samthaan and Khushali Kumar are also below average. Parth, who is a successful actor on the small screen, has failed to do justice to his character on the big screen. Khushali's performance also seems weak and incomplete somewhere.
The direction of the film is as weak as its story. Instead of taking a meaningful direction, the director has made it ridiculous. There is no scene that can bind you or make you curious. There is not a single song in the film that is memorable. The music does not help in taking the story of the film forward, rather it makes it even weaker.
Overall, Ghudchadi will leave you disappointed. The story, acting, direction and music are all disappointing. Despite its talented cast, the film fails in its objective.
