In today's India, where on one hand patriarchy and male dominance prevail, on the other hand there are some places where women are treated with respect and equality. Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam is such a story that gives a glimpse of these two contrasting worlds. The film is not just a simple love story but it highlights the social conflict where in one culture women are suppressed and in the other they have all the freedom and respect, or we can say – they are the leaders. This film is not just romance and comedy but it also gives a social message which is presented in a very subtle and humorous way.
The film begins with a high-profile wedding, in which Krish (Aashim Gulati) attends and meets Meera (Dhvani Bhanushali) who is the bride. In the midst of the wedding rituals, Meera suddenly disappears, and this is where a series of hilarious events begin in the story. The chaos and hilarity surrounding Krish is further amplified by his being an uninvited guest. The story shows the clash between two different cultures and social beliefs in a very humorous way, including the issue of women empowerment.
Dhvani Bhanushali's acting is superb. This is her first film, but it doesn't feel like it at all with her presence on screen. There is simplicity and innocence in her character, which connects with the audience instantly. She has brought her character alive with depth and sensitivity in her acting. There is spontaneity and clarity of emotions in her dialogue delivery. Her body language and facial expressions also match the situation and emotions of the character perfectly. Aashim Gulati has also done a great job in the role of Krish. His timing is perfect, and his comic side is worth watching in the film. Their chemistry is very natural and impressive. The appearance of these two on screen feels like a visual treat.
Saurabh Dasgupta's direction is commendable. The film has a runtime of only 1 hour 45 minutes, but comedy, drama, romance, and social issues have been presented in such a great way that Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam never seems slow or boring. Every character has been given equal importance. Dhvani Bhanushali is a famous singer, and the songs sung by her have added a different sweetness to the story. The background music of the film also keeps the story fun and enthusiastic.
Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam is a complete family film, which also gives a deep and thought-provoking message amidst laughter and fun. It presents a subtle perspective on the status and empowerment of women. Dhvani Bhanushali has proved that she is going to play a long innings not only in singing, but also in acting.
