Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Movie Review : A long ride packed with laughter and catchy tunes

Film: Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video

Cast: Rajkummar Rao, Tripti Dimri, Vijay Raaz, Mallika Sherawat, Archana Puran Singh

Director: Raaj Shaandilyaa

Rating: 3 Moons

Comedy films in Bollywood have a different style, where along with laughter, cheap dialogues are also used many times. In contrast, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is a clean, family-friendly comedy, although its title is a bit flirtatious. The film is like a classic comedy of the 90s, where the laughter does not seem forced and the situations seem quite lifelike.

The story revolves around a newlywed couple Vicky (Rajkumar Rao) and Vidya (Tripti Dimri) who find themselves in a sticky situation when a personal CD of theirs gets stolen. What follows is a fun-filled chase as they try to get the CD back and save their honour, leading to hilarious moments. Despite having a simple plot, the story manages to touch the hearts of the audience, especially those who want to watch a real comedy without unnecessary drama. Actually, the drama is there but it’s not boring.

The film is a perfect blend of comedy, suspense and 90s nostalgia and a surprise at the end for which you need to watch VVKWWV. Mallika Sherawat is back on screen reminding the audience of the days when her role in films was small, but bold.

Rajkumar Rao's character is full of simplicity as always, and is not unlike the common person’s. This is the reason why his comedy moments become even more fun. Tripti Dimri's character seems dull at times, but she has done a good job. Vijay Raaz makes the audience laugh. All the other characters also play their parts well.

Director Raaj Shaandilyaa has presented the film well, but the story could have been told in a better way and it could have been made a little shorter. The message of the film is good, but was not presented well. Still, the screenwriting keeps you engaged. Some songs, again, give the complete feel of the 90s. But not all the songs are of this level. The film is long, but if you want to watch something light and funny this weekend, you could not do better than go see Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.
