Director: Sukumar
Rating: 4 Moons
If you are thinking that ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ is just action and drama like the first part, then wait a bit, because it will surprise you even more than the prequel. This film by Sukumar is not just a story, but an emotional rollercoaster ride, which you will feel every moment.
Story and Direction
At the beginning, you will feel that it is a slow-paced film, but as the story progresses, it does not let you move from your seat. In the first half, the drama around the characters drags a bit, but the interval bang is such that your mood is set back. In the second half, twists and layers come one after the other, which make the story more interesting. The ‘Gangamma Thalli Jatara’ episode is really great. Sukumar has crafted it so wonderfully, that it stuns you.
Dialogues and Humour
The dialogues are masterpieces in themselves. Every dialogue of Pushpa is meant to bring applause and whistles. The perfect combination of pun and humour will make you laugh again and again. While the tone of the film is serious, the funny punches of the dialogues balance it.
Respect for Women
The film beautifully portrays womanhood and women empowerment. Pushpa's respect for his mother and Srivalli and his struggle shows that women should always be empowered and strong.
Action and Music
There is a sequence in the pre-climax which after watching will make you feel that it is the setup for ‘Pushpa 3’. The songs, especially Allu Arjun's dance on ‘Kissick’, will bring a smile to your face.
Performance
Allu Arjun has played Pushpa Raj with such intensity that every action connects you with his character. His rawness and de-glam look is the soul of this film. Fahadh Faasil has given a dangerous vibe to the character of SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. His acting gives goosebumps. Rashmika Mandanna brings life to the film with her expressions. Her eyes speak in every scene.
Overall
If you are a fan of Allu Arjun, then this film is a treat for you. If you are not, then you will become one after this film. ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ is not just action and drama, it is a banging mix of emotion, power and performance. Bringing together dialogues, action and issues like women empowerment, this film not only entertains but also makes you think. And yes, don't miss the last scene, because the surprise is such that you can't even imagine it.
