Baby John Movie Review : Varun Dhawan’s Christmas cracker has action, emotion and drama

Film: Baby John

Cast: Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, Rajpal Yadav, Salman Khan

Director: Kalees

Rating: 3.5 Moons

Baby John’, with emotions, action and suspense, is the story of DCP Satya Verma (Varun Dhawan) who clashes with powerful politician Babar Sher (Jackie Shroff) when he kills his son for rape and murder. In revenge, Babar destroys Satya's family, leaving only his young daughter Khushi alive. Satya fakes his death and starts a new life in a small town in Kerala as Baby John. When Babar finds out Satya is alive, he destroys his peaceful life. Now Satya has to save his daughter because he promised his wife to protect her.

Varun Dhawan has done a wonderful job in the role of DCP Satya Verma. He has played father, husband, son and police officer with ease and grace. Keerthy Suresh (Satya's wife) wins the audience’s heart with her "Nain Matakka". Wamiqa Gabbi (the daughter's teacher) is also in full action mode and makes an impact with her acting. But Rajpal Yadav (Constable) deserves the most praise. His dialogue delivery and timing has the audience in splits. Jackie Shroff has acted brilliantly. Every expression and the menace in his presence instills fear. The show stealer is Bhaijaan Salman Khan. In few minutes he has the audience whistling.

Director Kalees has done a great job. The nuances in every scene have been shown beautifully and the audience feels every moment. The film connects its audience not only with action but also with deep emotions. Songs like "Nain Matakka" and "Pikley Pom" are already hits but the rest of the music is also good, though some songs could have been better.

Overall ‘Baby John’ is a great Christmas treat which you can watch with your family. It will make you laugh, cry, angry and feel the truth about society. This film is not just all action and drama but also has a deep and emotional story.
