The episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai begins with everybody getting ready for Shubham and Suhana's engagement. They prepare for the event. Luv and Kush tell Naira and Kartik that the ring box brought by Suhana's family is empty but Naira and Kartik ask them not to act mature and stay out of adult discussions.

Naira and Kartik share a few romantic moments. Kirti feels extremely hot. Singhania ladies ask her to get rid of the heavy ornaments. Naksh helps her remove the ornaments. Suhana's pseudo-mother hugs Kirti and sneaks out her bangle right under her nose. Suhana sees it and in the same way makes Kirti wear it back again.

Someone clicks Naira's pictures secretly without her knowledge.The couple's dance merrily at the function. Suddenly the lights go off. Everybody see Naira trip and fall while getting the rings for engagement as soon as the lights turn on. Everybody panics and wonder about her sudden action. Rajshri gets scared thinking of Naira's stitches. Kartik rushes her to the hospital. The doctor checks up Naira and says that she is fine.

Kirti says that she will ask Naksh to get the medicines for Naira. Meanwhile, Naira sees a man in the mental ward talking to Suhana's picture. She gets shocked. Kartik too gets shocked. Naira remembers the man once standing outside the Goenka house asking for his wife Ruby. She tells Kartik of how his mother had told Naira of her son's mental condition being spoilt because of his wife Ruby who ran away with his money. Naira understands Ruby aka Suhana's game plan. Naira and Kartik ask their doctor to release the patient but he says that the doctor in charge isn't on duty and that he cannot do anything in other's case.

Meanwhile, Swarna asks Suhasini if she could allow Suhana and Shubham to select engagement rings from the stock of rings she had kept for other functions. Suhana chooses a ring for Shubham and a fancy ring for herself.
