The episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai begins with Naira and everybody wishing Kartik at the stroke of 12 at midnight. Naira sees Shubham and wonders if he would reveal about his drug addiction to everyone. Shubham in his room gets restless on being unable to take drugs. Swarna goes to his room to give him milk.

Shubham rests on her lap as Swarna cries tears of joy. Naira sees this and feels good. She goes to the room and romances with the birthday boy Kartik. Kartik says that Naira has made his birthday really special. Next morning, Swarna prays to God and thanks them for returning her son Shubham to her. Swarna senses something wrong and feels that she is hallucinating.

Manish and Akhilesh under the pretext of going to office take Kartik to a poolside restaurant. The Singhania and Goenka families surprise Kartik. Kartik feels happy. Naira takes him to change his dress and the two romance. Kartik asks Naira if she was hiding anything from him. She lies and thinks of Shubham's promise.

Naira meets Shubham while coming back to the party. She asks him as to when was he going to reveal about his drug addiction to everyone. Shubham says soon. Swarna asks Naira if everything was okay. Naira says yes. Shubham plays with Luv and Kush and he is seen happy. Kartik mistakes Manish for Naira when he whistles and compliments Kartik. Kartik later asks Manish to break the ice with Shubham. The father and son duo smile and hug each other. Swarna and Naira see this and smile.
