The episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai begins with Naira and Kartik spending quality time together. Kartik thanks her for planning his birthday. The drug dealers come to take money from Shubham. He gives away his watch and gets some drugs in return. Naira sees Shubham and wonders why he wasn’t telling the family about his drug addiction. As Kartik cuts the birthday cake, Suhasini gets worried when the candle doesn't blow out properly and calls it a bad omen. Naira gifts Kartik a photo of a frog and a lioness, depicting their relationship.

Suhasini feels happy seeing Kartik and Shubham together and prays for the family's safety. Naira becomes worried as Shubham tries to avoid her. Naira asks him to open up to his family about his drug addiction. They end up having an argument over the same. The celebrations continue. Manish sings a song and asks Kartik and Shubham to join him. As Shubham dances, the packet of drugs falls out of his pocket but he picks it up quickly.
Shubham recalls the day and thinks about leaving the addiction of drugs once and for all. Swarna gets some bad thoughts in her mind and worries. Manish consoles her. She tells Manish that they should organize a pooja at home. Naira sees Shubham sleeping in his room and decides to give him one more day else reveal the truth herself.
