Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, theatres in the nation are shut for the past five months now. While the Government of India is yet to take a decision regarding the reopening of cinema halls, filmmakers are taking the digital route to release their films. Amid this, Tollywood superstar Nani's upcoming project titled V is also eyeing a digital opening. According to reports, producer Dil Raju and Nani couldn't wait for theatres to reopen and have finally sealed the deal.
Reportedly, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the digital rights of V for a whopping price of Rs. 33 crores. The film directed by Mohanakrishna Indraganti will reportedly release on September 5, 2020. It is being said that the makers are planning to officially announce it soon. Apart from Nani, Sudheer Babu, Aditi Rao Hydari and Nivetha Thomas are the lead actors in V.
Apart from Nani's V, Amazon Prime Video premiered films like Jyotika's Tamil-language legal drama Ponmagal Vandhal, Keerthy Suresh's Penguin and Ragini Prajwal's debut Kannada film Law. Speaking of Hindi films, Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana's Gulabon Sitabo was the first feature film to get a digital release. Vidya Balan's Shakuntala Devi too premiered on OTT.
