Congress leader Kavitha Reddy who allegedly attacked and assaulted Kannada actress Samyuktha Hegde on September 4 at Agara Lake in Bengaluru, issued an unconditional apology in a video message on Twitter on Sunday. In the message, Kavitha, an activist, mentioned that she never physically hit or assault Samyuktha's friend yet owes an apology for losing her temper. Stating that she has always opposed moral policing, Kavitha said the ugly incident that has been blown out of proportion, shouldn't be seen as a political one.  

"I have stated my version of events and expressed regrets. And even though I did not physically hit or assault Samyukta’s friend, I still owe an unconditional apology for losing my temper irrespective of whatever the provocation was. Moral policing is something I have always opposed and it is unthinkable that I would make such regressive comments. With a lot of public around, there were a lot of heated arguments and commotion as well as out of context recordings. The ugly incident should not have happened nor should be seen as political or moral policing," Kavitha told in her video.

She further added that being a 'progressive woman', she issued a 'sincere apology' to Samyuktha and her friends. "As a responsible citizen and progressive woman, I own up to and sincerely apologise to Samyuktha Hegde and her friends," she said.

Samyuktha, on Saturday, shared a video on Instagram and penned a lengthy note while talking about the incident. The actress claimed that when she was working out with her friends at the park, Kavitha suddenly lashed out at them and began abusing. She said Kavitha asked if they were cabaret dancers. Samyuktha went on to say that Kavitha also threatened her that her name will be linked to the ongoing Sandalwood drug scandal.

Despite being polite and trying to solve the problem, the lady hit my friend and used disparaging remarks about me and my friends Was extremely disappointed with how the police who came to the location behaved , like nothing was wrong and spoke to her with respect while asked us to be quite. The cops stood there while her mob harassed us and even after requesting the police continuously, they decided to stand there and support this (proof on igtv) Yesterday was really hard and it was so disturbing to go through this When we went to the police station, everyone there already knew her and spoke to her nicely and saw us like we were wrong. The only police who spoke to us with some respect and told her she was wrong was the inspector is the hsr police station muni reddy, he asked us both to file our respective complaints and he left. We wrote the complaint and gave it to the police. The police present there refused to give us an acknowledgement for the same. Its not easy being strong around people who are trying to break you, and having to listen to so many people harass us for doing nothing.
