Renowned Telugu actor Jaya Prakash Reddy passes away at 74; Genelia Deshmukh, Mahesh Babu, Jr.NTR and others offer condolences

Veteran Telugu actor Jaya Prakash Reddy breathed his last at his residence in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday morning. He was 74 and suffered a massive heart attack. Known as the master of dialects, Jaya Prakash Reddy acted in nearly 100 films. 

A former sub-inspector of police, Reddy got a chance to make his acting debut in his 40s on bagging Venkatesh’s 1988 film Brahma Puthrudu. However, his major breakthrough film was Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 1999 film Samarasimha Reddy. Reddy, who played the antagonist, became a household name for speaking Rayalaseema-slang flawlessly. Apart from Telugu, Reddy did Tamil films including the remake of his 2008 Telugu film Ready. The Tamil remake of Ready released in 2010 and was titled Uthamaputhiran featuring Dhanush and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles. Reddy is survived by his wife Radha and two sons, Niranjan and Dushyanth.

Soon after the news of Reddy's demise broke, the Telugu film industry offered condolences on social media. Genelia, on Twitter, wrote, "RIP #Jayaprakashreddy garu .. Remembering fondly our great times at shoots.. Was always fun interacting with you.. Prayers and strength to the family"

Mahesh Babu tweeted, "Saddened by the passing of #JayaPrakashReddy garu. One of TFI's finest actor-comedians. Will always cherish the experience of working with him. Heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones."

Chiranjeevi penned a heartfelt note and said, "Deeply pained at the demise of Sri.Jayaprakashreddy garu." 

Rakul Preet Singh wrote, "This is so sad!! Have worked with him in so many films. condolences to the family . RIP jata Prakash reddy garu"

Jr. NTR also offered his condolence.
