Kannada actress Ragini Dwivedi, who was arrested in the Sandalwood drugs racket case, spiked her own urine sample and handed it over to the doctors who were conducting a drug test on her. She was taken to the KC General Hospital in Malleswaram, Bangalore for a drug test in the case where she mixed water with her urine sample. However, her antics could not escape the doctors who informed the CCB officer who was part of the investigation.
The urine drug test was conducted to check if the actor had consumed banned drugs in the last few days. Adding water to the urine reduces its temperature and brings it at par with body temperature. Reportedly, Ragini tried to throw tantrums and said that she will not take the tests until consulting her lawyer. However, the CCB officer made her undergo the test again and she was asked to give another sample, albeit without diluting it with water. A footage emerged of Ragini and Sanjjanaa Galrani throwing tantrums and refusing to give samples for a medical exam and dope test. In the video, Ragini told the police team, “If we get caught again, we will have to go to jail. Our life is already ruined."
On the other hand, Sanjjanaa Galrani refused to undergo the test and threw tantrums arguing why she should allow samples to be taken citing that they are against her fundamental rights. In the video she said, “I have lost trust in the police. I don’t know why I have been arrested. I asked you with folded hands, you are not telling me the reason. Even if I give blood tests, I don't trust that the blood will be mine. My lawyers told me to say 'no’. It’s my fundamental right to say no. Nobody can force me to give blood samples. You people have tricked me into coming here. There is no evidence against me, I didn't do anything wrong. Just because we spoke to each other over the phone doesn't mean that I am involved in the crime." Later when the police sent the test orders to Sanjjanaa’s lawyer and she confirmed the same from him, she agreed to take the test. The results of the test are awaited.
The Central Crime Branch used the incident and the video before the magistrate later in the day to demand an extension in the actors’ police custody. The extension was sought on non-cooperation grounds besides citing the arrest of two alleged drug peddlers on Friday. Along with Ragini and Sanjjanaa, police custody of four of their associates - Ravi Shankar, Rahul Shetty, Niyaz and Loum Pepper Samba - was also extended till September 14.
Earlier in the day, Ragini had moved her bail petition, which was adjourned by the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) special court here to next Monday (September 14), Sanjjanaa’s custody was also extended till Monday. Reportedly, more bigwigs could be arrested in the coming weeks. The Enforcement Directorate has also got into the investigation, tracking the money trail after foreign currency was recovered from a high profile event manager in Delhi.
