Vijay Sethupathi to play Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan in his biopic, shares first poster

Vijay Sethupathi is one of the most promising actors of the Southern film fraternity. Now, after starring in the recently released Tamil film Ka Pae Ranasingam, Vijay will be seen playing the role of Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan in his biopic. The actor, on Instagram, confirmed signing the film which is yet to get a title and also shared the first poster. 

Sharing a poster, Vijay wrote, "Honoured to be a part of this landmark project. Update soon." In the poster, we can't see the actor's look. Last year, Rana Daggubati had confirmed that he will be producing the film with DAR Motion Pictures. However, if reports are to be believed, Rana has backed out of the project.

According to reports, the film will be titled 800 and will be directed by MS Sripathy. Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan will be in the female lead. Reportedly, RD Rajasekhar is the cinematographer and has travelled to Sri Lanka for a recce. The film is being produced by Vivek Rangachari.

In a previous interview, Vijay spoke about the film and said, "I am happy to be associated with the Muthiah Muralitharan biopic. He is an iconic sportsman of Tamil origin and someone who has made his mark across the world. Portraying the role of Murali is going to be a challenge for me and I am looking forward to it."
